John Gandolfo
Vice President and Treasurer, Treasury & Mobilization,

John Gandolfo is IFC’s Vice President and Treasurer, Treasury & Mobilization.  Mr. Gandolfo leads IFC’s Treasury & Mobilization global team in delivering on IFC’s strategy to create markets and mobilize private capital for development, in debt and equity, leveraging IFC’s decades of experience crowding in third-party institutional investors. The team manages over $100 billion in liquid assets, global market borrowings, and derivatives transactions. It is responsible for strengthening local-currency financing by arranging and executing local-currency and risk-management transactions for clients and raising third-party capital through innovative syndication and mobilization platforms such as the Managed Co-Lending Portfolio Program (MCPP) and AMC.

 

Prior to taking the role of IFC Treasurer, Mr. Gandolfo was Director and Chief Investment Officer of the Pension and Endowments Department at the World Bank. His team managed $27 billion of World Bank Group pension and other retirement-benefit portfolios invested across a range of asset classes and strategies. Over a highly successful career spanning more than 30 years in the World Bank Group, Mr. Gandolfo acquired broad experience in financial markets and treasury operations. As Director of the Quantitative Strategies, Risk and Analytics Department, he was responsible for the development of strategic and tactical asset allocations, risk management, and financial modeling for the asset management, capital markets, and banking businesses. Before that, he was the Director of the Investment Management Department. He began his career in IFC’s Financial Management and Planning Department.

 

Mr. Gandolfo holds a BA from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA from the George Washington University.

Mengistu Alemayehu
Director, IFC Equity Mobilization Department (AMC),

Alemayehu is a seasoned investment professional with over 30 years of experience covering emerging markets of Europe, Asia, Latin America, Middle East, and Africa.  He is currently Director of IFC’s Equity Mobilization Department, AMC.  Prior to this, Alemayehu was Director for the South Asia Department, IFC heading all of IFC’s activities in the region.   In this role, he has led the significant expansion of IFC activities in the South Asia region, delivering a record investment volume over $15 billion investment in Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises, renewables, infrastructure, logistics, services, and manufacturing in the last six years.

 

Prior to being Director for South Asia, Alemayehu had a distinguished career in IFC’s Financial Institutions Group, assuming various important roles including Chief Investment Officer, Head of FIG Equity Business, and his last role being Global Head for IFC’s financial service business covering banking, SMEs, microfinance, housing, and digital finance for about a decade in Washington and Dubai.   During his leadership, investment activities in these businesses grew four- to five-fold increases, making IFC the leader in a number of these areas.  His leadership was instrumental in strengthening and establishing many successful financial institutions including commercial and merchant banks, insurance and asset management companies, private equity funds, microfinance institutions, housing finance institutions, and privatizing and restructuring several leading financial institutions across all emerging markets.

 

Before joining IFC, Alemayehu, an MBA graduate of George Washington University, held senior positions related to project finance, development consulting, and higher education in Ethiopia.

Selena Baxa
Head, IFC African, Latin American & Caribbean Fund

Selena joined AMC in 2011 after 11 years at IFC, where she was an Investment Officer in both the East Asia Department and the Global Financial Markets Department, and a Senior Strategy Officer in the Corporate Strategy Department. Prior to joining IFC, Selena was Associate Director in the M&A Department of Credit Agricole Indosuez in Paris and a Vice President of Project Finance at the same company in Singapore.

 

Selena holds a BBA from the National University of Singapore.

Alain Berdugo
Head, IFC Catalyst Fund & IFC Global Emerging Markets Fund of Funds, Fund of Funds

Alain joined AMC in 2013 as a Principal with the AMC Fund of Funds Group. Prior to joining AMC, Alain was a director at Ardian (formerly AXA Private Equity) in Singapore. Alain’s prior experience includes working at Caisse de Depot et Placement du Quebec and CIBC.

 

Alain holds a BAA in Finance from University of Montreal, Hautes Etudes Commerciales (HEC) and a Diploma in Finance from Institut Universitaire de Technologie.

Inderbir Singh Dhingra
Head, IFC Global Infrastructure Fund

Inderbir joined AMC in 2015. He has more than 19 years of experience in private equity and debt investments, equity research, and public policy. Prior to joining AMC, Inderbir held various positions in the Financial Institutions Group at IFC, including managing the South Asia portfolio and subsequently leading the direct equity investments across Asia Pacific. He has also worked at the World Bank in providing financial and advisory assistance to national and provincial governments in India and East Africa in the areas of SME financing, Infrastructure PPPs, Innovation Policy and Investment Climate. Prior to joining the World Bank Group, Inderbir served as a Vice President at Credit Suisse First Boston (CSFB) and Deutsche Bank, leading their Equities Research for the Pharmaceuticals, Telecom Services & Equipment, and Media sectors based in Mumbai.  He has published papers on Investment Climate in India, Infrastructure Finance, Public Private Partnership units, and Enhancing Innovation Finance through seed and early stage venture capital funding.

 

Inderbir holds an MBA equivalent from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, a Bachelors in Commerce (Honors) from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University, and a Diploma in Business Finance from the Indian Chartered Financial Analyst Institute.

Jun Nitta
Head, Financial Institutions Group Funds

Jun joined AMC in 2010 as a Senior Investment Manager with the IFC Capitalization Fund. Previously, Jun was a Vice President in the Investment Banking Division at JPMorgan in Tokyo and an Investment Officer in the Financial Institutions Group of IFC. Jun also worked in the Investment Banking Division at Deutsche Bank and at the Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ.  Jun is based in AMC's Singapore office.

 

Jun holds a BA in Political Science from Waseda University and an MBA from the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania. 

Mark Reinisch, CFA
Head, Investor Relations; Head, London Treasury & Mobilization,

Mark joined AMC in 2017 as part of the Client Relations team based in London. Previously, Mark was Head of business development at The Rohatyn Group as well as holding senior Client roles at several European asset managers. He began his career in equity research and portfolio management at Mercury Asset Management in London and was subsequently Head of International and Emerging Markets equity research at Scudder, Stevens and Clark.

 

Mark holds an MA from Edinburgh University, a Masters of International Management from Thunderbird School of Global Management and is a CFA charter holder.

Adam Sack
Head, IFC Middle East and North Africa Fund

Adam joined IFC in 2001 in Vietnam and has worked in Asia ever since, joining AMC in November 2015. He relocated to Singapore with AMC from Colombo, where he was the country manager for Sri Lanka and Maldives. From 2007 to 2011, Adam was the country manager for Indonesia and prior to that, he lived and worked in Vietnam and Cambodia running IFC's Advisory programs in the Mekong. Adam started his career at J.P. Morgan in London in M&A and structured finance, and left with two colleagues to start a European private equity fund in the early 1990s.

 

He has an MSc in development studies and a BA in philosophy, politics and economics from Oxford University.

Mona Tarpley
Head, Legal & Compliance,

Prior to joining AMC in 2011, Mona was an associate at Debevoise & Plimpton, LLP in London advising institutional and boutique sponsors of private equity investment funds in Europe, the Middle East and Latin America, including leveraged buyout funds, emerging markets funds, fund of funds and mezzanine funds.

 

Mona holds a BA in political science and history from Virginia Tech, an MBA from the University of Pittsburgh and a JD from the University of Virginia. 

Andrew Yee
Head, IFC Emerging Asia Fund

Andrew joined AMC in December 2014. Prior to this, he spent seven years at Standard Chartered Bank’s Private Equity Business, first as Global Head of Infrastructure and then Global Co-Head of Energy Resources and Infrastructure.  He was also Co-CEO of the SCI Asia Fund. Andrew has more than twenty five years of experience including as Head of M&A at InterGen Asia and prior to that as Head of Power and Energy at Goldman Sachs Asia.

 

Andrew holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree in Accounting and a Bachelor of Law degree from the University of New South Wales in Australia.

Sheref Zurga
Head, Finance & Administration, Finance

Prior to joining AMC in 2011, Sheref was previously an Investment Accounting Officer at IFC and a Senior Manager at EY. Prior to joining the EY audit practice, Sheref led accounting teams at PNC Global Investment Servicing, Inc. and Citigroup Fund Services, formerly BISYS Fund Services.

 

Sheref is a CPA and holds a BA from Addis Ababa University and an MBA from California University of Pennsylvania.
